The 30 largest states by tracked facility count, plotted by two independent access signals: how many of their SAMHSA-listed facilities offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and how many accept Medicaid. - Source. Download SAMHSA's annual N-SUMHSS (National Substance Use and Mental Health Services Survey), the federal census of treatment facilities.
- Verify. Parse each facility record for location, services, populations served, treatment approaches, medications and payment options exactly as reported to SAMHSA, with nothing inferred or added.
- Publish. Aggregate facility-level data into state and service-type views so every count traces back to the underlying federal survey.
